Online Support Group Policy: Cameras On

At the Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. To support this, we ask that all participants keep their cameras on during our online support groups.

Why cameras are required:

  • Safety & Accountability
Cameras help ensure that everyone is present and engaged in the group. They also discourage inappropriate behavior and allow moderators to address concerns promptly.

  • Connection & Community
Seeing each other’s faces fosters a sense of connection and inclusion, especially for participants who may otherwise feel isolated or anxious. This helps build trust and creates a more welcoming space for sharing and learning together.

  • Support & Monitoring
For our moderators and facilitators, being able to see participants makes it easier to notice signs of confusion, distress, or disengagement so we can better support everyone’s needs.

We understand that being on camera can feel uncomfortable at first, and we are here to support participants as they adjust.
